FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to the area of medicine, particularly, to the purulent and thoracic surgery. A trocar is inserted into the pleural cavity, and fibrinous and necrotic masses are removed. Whereupon, at the initial stage of the operation, an increasing of the pleural cavity by means of elimination of an exudate and separation of fibrous fusions between the pulmonary pleurae are conducted. Then, the cavity is rinsed with a physiological solution, and after that, the elimination of fibro-purulent deposits from the visceral and parietal layers of the pleura, a detritus, and decortication of a lung until diapedetic bleeding occurs from the surface of its parenchyma are conducted. Whereupon, the elimination of the fibro-purulent deposits, the detritus, and decortication of the lung are performed by a pulsing water jet with adjustment of its pressure magnitude with the speed of 660-1,700 m/sec with the simultaneous vacuum aspiration of the fibro-purulent deposits and detritus.

EFFECT: method of duration reduction of the surgical interference increases the treatment efficiency of patients with the pleural empyema and fibrothorax.
