EVALUATION METHOD OF STRESS CORROSION CRACKING RESISTANCE OF LOW-ALLOYED PIPE STEELS Russian patent published in 2017 - IPC G01N17/00

Abstract RU 2611699 C1

FIELD: metal industry.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to the area of metal industry, particularly, to the evaluation of the stress corrosion cracking resistance (SCC) of low-alloyed steels designed for construction of trunk oil and gas pipelines. Samples tested are located into an electrolytic cell with a ground suspension at neutral pH attaching the cathode protection potential of -1.2V (normal hydrogen equivalent) at slow-action stressing until rupture with the constant rate of relative deformation of 10-5 c-1 set by the direct control of a test machine, and the reduction of resistance to rupture is evaluated by the reduction of relative contraction and time to fracture determined as a relationship of time to fracture and relative contraction of a sample tested in the ground suspension at the cathode protection potential of -1.2V (normal hydrogen equivalent) to the same value in the air.

EFFECT: invention provides the reduction of duration and simplification of performed operations for the obtaining of an actual express evaluation of resistance of low-alloy steels to the stress corrosion cracking.
