FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: in case of reexploration, during the first heart surgery, edges of dissected pericardium are left free. To isolate the heart from the sternum, a synthetic implant, comprising two laminated together films is applied. The implant contains a central rectangular starved spot. Before sternum closure, the implant is fixed to the soft tissues of the anterior mediastinum along the perimeter without heart compression, covering its front surface. At that, the starved spot is located in the sternum projection. During the repeated intervention, the lower edge of the implant is selected, films are disconnected in the bottom department, a Gigli saw is passed between the films to the starved spot and reexploration is performed.

EFFECT: method allows reliable prevention of heart injury during reexploration due to its reliable isolation at the first operation using the original implant while avoiding complications caused by heart compression and displacement of heart-insulating material, reducing the reexploration time due to convenience, simplicity of its implementation, as well as to the ability to use a relatively small implant to cover the rear sternum surface.
