FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method includes aromatic-rich flow feeding to the reactor ; saturation (in the reactor saturation zone) of aromatic compounds contained in the aromatic-rich flow with hydrogen and over a nonacidic catalyst to form alkylcyclohexane; isomerization (in the isomerization reactor zone) of alkylcyclohexane amounts greater than about 30 wt % to form dimethylcyclopentane; and dehydrogenation (in the dehydrogenation reactor zone form residual alkylcyclohexane) to form a hydrogen flow and aroomatic compounds in the product flow, wherein the product flow comprises less than about 25 wt % of aromatics and dimethylcyclopentane; direction of hydrogen flow from the dehydrogenation zone to the saturation zone; and product flow removal from the reactor.
EFFECT: reduced level of aromatics in hydrocarbon flows while maintaining a high octane number.
