FIELD: lighting.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a lighting system comprising light-emitting diodes (LED). The lighting system (1) comprises a plurality of discrete light-emitting diode modules (10), which are irregularly distributed within the transparent area (12) comprising a composite material. Each light-emitting diode module (10) comprises a LED and at least the first modular electrode and the second modular electrode. The first modular electrode is electrically connected to the LED cathode, and the second modular electrode is electrically connected to the LED anode. The number of discrete light-emitting diode modules per composite material volume unit is above the percolation threshold, and the entire composite material volume is filled with a network of randomly formed electrically conductive channels through which electrical power is distributed from a module (10) to an adjacent one. The area of the plurality of light-emitting diode modules (10) forming a module chain (P1, P2, P3) with at least one modular electrode of each light-emitting diode modules (10) in the chain (P1, P2, P3) in direct physical contact with the modular electrode of an adjacent light-emitting diode module (10) in the chain (P1, P2, P3), so that when voltage is applied to the chain (P1, P2, P3), current flows through each light-emitting diode module (10) in the chain (P1, P2 , P3), thereby actuating the LED of each light-emitting diode module (10) in the chain (P1, P2, P3).

EFFECT: invention extends the product range of lighting systems with light-emitting diodes.
