FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: method comprises workpiece deformation in alternating drive and non-drive continuous stands of continuous mill under different conditions of contact friction in the stands. The ratio of the diameters of the drive stand rolls to the diameters of the non-drive stand rolls is from 1.2 to 1.4. Lubricanting material is fed in the drive stands before the rolling only to the portions of the pass stream of each roll, limited by radius of roll body and effective roll radius, while in the non-drive stands - to the entire surface of the roll, wherein the same lubricating material is used in the form of briquettes.
EFFECT: reduced length of the thickened tube ends, reduced wear reduction of the rolls and energy consumption.
