FIELD: electronics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to making payments by wireless terminals, in particular, to controlling payment function of input means. Method comprises receiving, by an electronic device, a packet periodically transmitted from input means, having a payment function, which sends payment information, stored in input means to a payment reading means, when input means is located within a predetermined distance from payment reading means, and input means has received authorisation from electronic device to make payment and determining, by electronic device, distance from electronic device to input means based on signal strength of received packet. Method then includes transmitting, by electronic device, an acknowledgement (ACK) signal to input means according to determined distance of electronic device from input means, which includes either instructions authorising payment function of input means, if determined distance between input means and electronic device lies within predetermined communication range, wherein electronic device can communicate with input means, or instructions blocking payment function of input means, if determined distance between input means and electronic device lies outside predetermined range, but within communication range, and electronic device authorises payment by input means.

EFFECT: preventing unauthorised use of input means by a third party outside a predetermined distance.
