FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: method of vacuum plasma application of sandwiched coating involves application of lower layer out of chrome nitride and application of upper layer out of nitride of titanium, silicon and molybdenum composition at the following ratio, wt %: titanium 93.1-95.0, silicon 1.0-1.4, molybdenum 4.0-5.5. Application of coating layers is performed with three cathodes located horizontally in one plane, the first one of which consists of titanium and silicon alloy, the second one consists of chrome and is located opposite to the first one, and the third one is comprised by titanium and molybdenum and is located between them. Bottom layer is applied with the help of second cathode while top layer is applied by first and third cathodes.
EFFECT: higher cutting efficiency.
