FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: method involves charge preparation out of dehydrated lithium bromide and chloride, charge melting to obtain eutectic mix melt containing 90 wt % of lithium bromide and 10 wt % of lithium chloride, electrolysis of the eutectic mix melt obtained, and output of metal lithium from cathode space and of bromine and air mix from anode space. Bromine from bromine and air mix is absorbed by lithium hydroxide solution in the presence of carbamide, lithium bromide solution obtained is dehydrated by UHF heating at 160-170 °C, and obtained dehydrated lithium bromide with residual humidity not exceeding 0.1 % is supplied to electrolysis to replenish lithium bromide loss in the eutectic mix during electrolysis.
EFFECT: utilisation of bromine emission at anode, increased purity of lithium obtained.
