FIELD: various technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of lithium metal. Method includes preliminary preparation of lithium-containing slag by extraction under exhaust hood and fixation of its weight, first remelting of lithium-containing slag in melting shell into lithium workpieces at temperature from 240 to 250°C under cover with collection of released slag from surface of melt, Cutting of produced billets of cylindrical shape along lower and upper edges, second remelting of obtained lithium billets in melting shell under cover with collection of slag from melt surface similarly to the first remelting. After that, a lithium sample is taken from the obtained workpiece for lithium content, wherein if the analysis result for lithium metal content is less than 99.6%, then additional remelting is carried out, and if lithium content is more than 99.6%, the obtained cylindrical workpieces are cut along the lower and upper edges. Formed after remelting slag is utilized by oxidation in air and quenching of formed lithium salts with control of water heating not more than 50°C and finished lithium workpieces are packed into containers.

EFFECT: invention widens the range of known methods of producing lithium workpieces, which increases convenience of their further use.
