FIELD: oil and gas industry.

SUBSTANCE: inspection of the vertical steel tank bottom (hereinafter VST) is produced by complex for diagnosing bottoms, wherein it is used the method of the magnetic flux leakage (MFL) and the eddy current method for detecting bottom sheets and welding joints defects, to determine their locations and measurements of the residual sheet thickness of VST bottoms and anti-corrosion coating, wherein the system for bottoms diagnostics consists of the sheets scanner and joints scanner; the sheets scanner, in its turn, includes the trolley of special design, which has the magnetic system with the sensor unit, the actuator drive unit, the battery unit, the electronics unit, the navigation system, and the joints scanner also consists of the trolley, on which electronics unit, battery unit, odometer and external sensor are placed. In this case, the sheets scanner and the joints scanner are equipped with the onboard diagnostic information storage device and electronics modules of the sheets scanner and the joints scanner are programmed to the certain operating parameters, associated with the defects detection, storage of diagnostic information, adjustment of the navigation system.

EFFECT: provision of opportunities to improve the reliability of the diagnostic data and timely prediction of critical defective areas of the tank bottom.
