FIELD: defectoscopy.
SUBSTANCE: using for non-destructive testing of the bottoms of vertical steel tanks under the acoustic-emission method of nondestructive testing. Essence of the Invention thing is piezoacoustic transducers are installed on the bottom of the tank, an elastic deformation of the local bottom section is created, acoustic emission signals are recorded, while the creation of an elastic deformation of the local bottom section is effected by local cooling of the surface with solid carbon dioxide, the sublimation of which occurs at minus 72 °C, which excludes the maximum fixation of false acoustic signals.
EFFECT: increase the reliability of detection of various defects and increase the productivity of non-destructive testing.
