FIELD: agriculture.
SUBSTANCE: method for pre-sowing treatment of barley seeds relates to the field of agriculture. The method comprises the physico-chemical impact on the seeds using tetraethoxysilane Si(OEt)4 in an amount of from 10 to 30 wt %, which is pre-hydrolyzed in a hydroalcoholic solution with the lack of water in the presence of alkali with formation of silica sol with pH ~ 7-8. Using the sol-gel technology, a coating is formed on the seeds surface, the structure of which is a silica or polysiloxane matrix, in which the minerals iseful for a plant can be additionally introduced.
EFFECT: seeds germination simplification and plant growth at the initial stage of their development, enhancing their competitiveness in relation to the seeds of weeds, and protecting the seeds of cultivated plants from harmful effects.
