FIELD: ecology.
SUBSTANCE: radioactive waste storage comprises a lower protective engineering barrier formed by a base, a bed and a drainage system, radioactive waste and an upper protective engineering barrier formed by an upper cushion, a high density polyethylene cover film and an upper cover. The storage has a multifunctional technological system of monitoring and maintenance formed by the upper and lower rows of perforated pipes. The ends of the pipes of the upper row extending over the edge of the storage are equipped with locking and connecting devices, and the ends of the lower row of pipes extending over the edge of the storage are equipped with locking and connecting devices and monitoring sensors. The drainage system is formed by the lower cushion of a bentonite-gravel mixture, a drainage filter, a sand layer and is disposed in the bed cavity.
EFFECT: invention improves environmental and operational safety when working with radioactive waste by applying a reliable and controlled environmental protection that excludes any possibility of migration of radionuclides into the environment.
