FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to boron-containing materials based on aluminium, produced in the form of ingots and intended for the production of sheet metal, including a thickness of less than 0.3 mm, which requires low specific mass and increased strength in combination with radiation protection properties. A method for producing a slurry from an aluminium-based alloy containing boron for the manufacture of sheet metal includes the preparation of an aluminium melt, the formation of boron-containing particles therein, the production of an ingot by crystallization of the melt and its homogenization, and an aluminium melt containing from 3 to 4.6 wt % of copper, from 2.3 to 2.7 wt % of magnesium, and from 0.3 to 0.7 wt % of manganese; boron is introduced into the melt in the form of a ligature in an amount providing at least 5% by volume of boron-containing particles in the ingot structure, the formation of which is carried out at melt temperature ranging from 940 to 1000°C for 30-35 minutes with obtaining in structure of ingot evenly distributed boron particles with mean size nor more than 25 microns.
EFFECT: high processability of ingots makes it possible to obtain deformed semi-finished products, including thin-sheeted rolled products that have high operational properties after operations of dispersion hardening.
