FIELD: pharmacology.

SUBSTANCE: method of producing melanin from shelf fungus comprising flooding the crushed shelf fungus with water, infusing at ambient temperature, boiling the mixture, filtrating the extraction, adding 25% hydrochloric acid solution to pH 1.0-2.0, stirring the resulting mixture, sedimentating, separating the sludge by filtration, drying the obtained melanin, wherein the supernatant solution is decanted after sedimentation, the flocculated flocks of melanin are dissolved with a sodium hydroxide solution added during stirring to pH 7-8, the resulting solution is poured into acetone under certain conditions for purification and sedimentation of melanin.

EFFECT: method enables to produce melanin cleaned of related substances with a low content of mineral elements and high concentration of paramagnetic centres of melanin.
