FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: method includes leaching of zinc-containing oxide material by 8-10% of aqueous ammonia at a temperature of 17-25°C, S:L = 1:9 - 1:10 for 20-60 minutes. Further ammonium is destilled from zinc-containing solution at a temperature of 85-95°C until a pH=8-9 to precipitate zinc hydroxide and return the ammonia to prepare an ammonia solution is obtained. Then the separation of zinc hydroxide precipitate is carried out, drying it and direction of the solution remaining after separation of the precipitate, to prepare an ammonia solution, which is recycled to the leach. Thus, as the zinc-containing material, an oxide precipitate is used; it was obtained by neutralizing the mine water solutions of copper-zinc mines lime milk, or a zinc containing dust copper smelting production.

EFFECT: preparation of high purity zinc oxide.
