FIELD: radio engineering, communication.
SUBSTANCE: essence of the method consists in emission in the reflecting surface direction of radio waves in the form of ultrashort pulses and subsequent reception of the reflected radio waves in the form of pulses, a small part of the emitted ultrashort pulses and the reflected pulses are quantized in amplitude, shortened in duration, then a broadband dispersion delay of quantized in amplitude and shortened by the duration radiated and reflected pulses is used, by means of which each of them is converted into linear-frequency-modulated signals of equal duration, and from the beat signal of the difference frequency of these linear-frequency-modulated signals, the distance to the reflecting surface is determined, while the duration of the linear-frequency-modulated signals exceeds the maximum delay of the reflected signal.
EFFECT: increasing the speed, resolution and cost effectiveness of the method for determining the distance to the reflecting surface using ultrashort pulses.
