FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: cylindrical thermo-emission cathode of cermets consists of the cylindrical filament bushing with successively applied to its outer surface intermediate and outer layers, the outer layer being formed by a mixture of refractory metal powders and emission-active components, the bushing being made of a mixture of refractory metal powders, preferably tungsten, molybdenum or rhenium, and a high-temperature metal oxide of the third group, and the intermediate layer being made of alundum ceramics. The cathode is heated as follows: contact plates are connected to the butt surfaces of the filament bushing; the plates are supplied with heating voltage, which causes current flow along the filament bushing and rapid heating of both the filament bushing and the entire cathode, since heat is transmitted instantaneously to the emission layer through the intermediate layer.
EFFECT: expansion of the functionality of the thermionic cathode and its application area.
