FIELD: technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: method of forming a decorative pattern (2) on a wood element (1) provides the wood element (1) with a surface (3). The said surface (3) is solid and formed from the said wood material; priming is made with possibility to control spreading of the said ink on the at least part of the said surface (3). Primer represents a mordant primer and contains at least one metal salt, and printing of a decorative pattern (2) with water-based inks containing coloring material on at least a part of the said surface (3) with a digital printer (20). Primer settles or sinters the said water-based paint.

EFFECT: method of forming a pattern on a wood element which is less dangerous to humans controlling this process and cost saving comparing to solutions known from the prior art.
