FLEXIBLE TEMPLE FOR GLASSES Russian patent published in 2017 - IPC G02C5/16 

FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: declared flexible temple for glasses, applicable, in particular, for the type of glasses with a frame (2) divided in the bridge zone (3), is formed as a narrow elongated part, the ends of which are attached to the movable joints attached to the outer ends of the said frame (2) and a closed part surrounding the head. The said narrow elongated part includes three sections having different nature at the ends of the said temple and in its central part, namely, two semi-rigid sections (11) at the ends of the temple with some flexibility to an extent providing a supporting function of the glasses, having substantially a straight flat form and located parallel to each other on the user's temples, when the spectacles are put on, and a flexible central section (12) conjugated with the semi-rigid sections, covering the user's head at the rear. The said central section (12) is more flexible as compared with the semi-rigid sections (11), that allows the temple (1) to bend to the extent that allows to place the glasses in a case or a box of the standard size for storage so that the folded temple (1) is not beyond the space occupied by the rim of the glasses (2). The semi-rigid sections (11) are made of polymer, and the flexible central section (12) is made of elastomer.

EFFECT: increasing the ease of use through: ensuring the compactness and easy storage in a case or a box of the standard size and the sufficient rigidity to hold the glasses on the user's ears.
