SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the tread design of an automotive studless tire for running on snow-covered and icy roads. Protector is equipped with a row of shoulder blocks along each of its edges. At least in one of the shoulder block rows each shoulder block row comprises at least one lamella extending at an angle of at least 60° relative to the tire longitudinal direction and containing a plane inclined relative to the normal direction to the tread surface; rounded part with an arcuate surface in the tire meridional section smoothly connecting the tread surface and the trapezoidal part surface, and at least one scarcement comprising a top surface extending axially outward of the curved part surface, and a side surface extending radially inward from the axially outer end upper surface. The scarcement has a longitudinal width of from 0.5 to 7.0 mm.
EFFECT: invention provides higher vehicle stability while turning in critical conditions on snowy and icy roads, and on dry road surfaces.
