FIELD: engines and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to engine building, namely to afterburner combustion systems. The invention consists in air injection into the engine exhaust port. For one option of method implementation, enriched fuel mixture is burnt in a multi-cylinder engine, air is injected into the exhaust port of the first cylinder, not into the exhaust port of the second cylinder, during the exhaust stroke of the first cylinder, and air is injected into the exhaust port of the second cylinder, not into the exhaust port of the first cylinder, during the exhaust stroke of the second cylinder. Thus, injection into each exhaust port is synchronized with the exhaust gas release to each exhaust port.
EFFECT: invention reduces costs of exhaust gases post-combustion.
