FIELD: measuring equipment.
SUBSTANCE: laser rangefinder with the probing beam totalizer contains a receiving device and a transmitter including an objective and two laser emitters with mutually parallel radiating areas, the output radiation beams of which are polarised and aligned with an optical adder made in the form of a bi-refringent plane-parallel plate and a half-wave plate mounted in front of one of the laser emitters. Herewith the radiating areas are oriented so that their maximum dimension is located parallel to the maximum size of the target. One radiating area is in focus of the transmitting optical system consisting of an objective and an optical adder, and the distance a between the radiating sites satisfies the condition where β - the refraction angle of an extraordinary ray; f - the focal length of the transmitting optical system; ϕ0 - the maximum permissible angular divergence of the output radiation in the plane of the minimum dimension of the radiating area; no - the refractive index of the ordinary beam of a bi-refringent plane-parallel plate; ne - the refractive index of an extraordinary ray; Do - the diameter of the transmitting lens.
EFFECT: most efficient use of the total energy of the probing radiation for long distances and the ability to measure shorter distances with rough guidance, for example, when working with hands.
