SUBSTANCE: invention relates to water soluble lubricants for metalworking, containing component A, component B, component C and component D, where component A is a mineral oil which has a characteristic temperature, measured in accordance with JIS K2242, 570°C or higher, and is contained in an amount of 10 wt % or more, based on the total amount of the agent, component B represents at least one condensed fatty acid which is selected from the condensed fatty acid (1) obtained by dehydrative condensation of ricinolenic acid and a condensed fatty acid (2) obtained by the dehydration condensation of the condensed hydroxyl spirit group of a fatty acid (1) with a monovalent carboxylic acid, which has a characteristic temperature measured in accordance with JIS K2242, 650°C or higher, and is contained in an amount of 7.5 wt % or more with respect to the total amount of the agent, the component C is a carboxylic acid and the component D is an amine compound or an alkali metal compound and is contained in such a neutralising equivalent that at least the component B and the component C are neutralized in the sum of their acid numbers.

EFFECT: agent can provide excellent machinability of hard-to-process materials and can extend the life of the machining tool.
