SUBSTANCE: steel features the following chemical composition, in wt %: C: 0.30 to 0.45, Si: 0.05 to 0.35, Mn: from 0.50 to 0.90, P: from 0.030 to 0.070, S: from 0.040 to 0.070, Cr from 0.01 to 0.50, Al: from 0.001 to 0.050, V: 0.25 to 0.35, Ca: 0 to 0.0100, N: 0.0150 or less, and the rest - Fe and unavoidable impurities. The composition of the steel satisfies the expression: [C]-4×[S]+×[V]-25[Ca]<0.44 (1), where [C], [S], [V], [Ca] denote the content of the C, S, V and Ca elements in wt %. Forged steel has a ferrite-pearlite structure with ferrite area fraction of 30% or more. The Vickers hardness is from 320 to 380 HV, the conditional yield strength σ0.2 Is 800 MPa or more, and the Charpy impact strength of a V-notch sample is 7 to 15 J/cm2.

EFFECT: high strength, machinability and splittability on crack.
