FIELD: machine engineering.
SUBSTANCE: method involves the extrusion of the axisymmetric rod-shaped workpiece, placed in the container through the conical matrix by applying the force P to the back end of the workpiece. The limit length ratio llim of the workpiece and the workpiece diameter d0 is determined from the stability retention condition of the workpiece by the formula: where E is the elasticity module of the workpiece material, MPa, is the stretching ratio at moulding, d0, d1 - the workpiece diameter and the product diameter after moulding, respectively, mm, σs - deformation resistance of the moulded material, MPa, αm - inclination angle of the generating matrix to the moulding axis, deg, ƒ - friction coefficient in the deformation area.
EFFECT: possibility to determine the limit ratios of the workpiece length and the diameter according to the condition of the workpiece stability retention under the influence of the axial force, taking into account the process parameters of the plastic deformation process.
