FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to casting permanent magnets of a thickness not exceeding 40 mm from an alloy based on neodymium-iron-boron (Nd-Fe-B) or praseodymium-iron-boron (Pr-Fe-B). The method includes pouring the alloy into a mould and its volume crystallization at a cooling rate of at least 200 deg/min.

EFFECT: due to volume crystallization, an ingot with an ultrafine-grain structure with a grain size of less than 1 mcm is obtained without the use of additional technological processing.
