FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: method for controlling a battery (13) charging, in particular, of a vehicle battery from a single-phase network, includes filtering the input voltage (Ve); supplying the electric power to the battery from the network through the undervoltage stage (3) and the voltage step-up stage (4), connected together via an inductive component (Ld); and monitoring the current (Id) passing through said inductive component, depending on a predetermined value (Idref) of the current. This current (Id) is not continuously controlled. According to the method, a predetermined current value is generated so that said predetermined current value has at least one first value and at least one second value greater than the first value. And the predetermined value of the current has the second value prior to the start of the phase during which the current is uncontrollable.
EFFECT: increased energy efficiency of charging systems.
