FIELD: oil and gas industry.

SUBSTANCE: measuring device is used for orienting the deflector, based on the indications of which the deflector action direction - NDO - is calculated. To "tie" the measuring device readings to the NDO, an orienting sub - OP - is used, installed above the deflector. Wherein it is proposed to use one or more OPs installed, while lowering the deflector onto the bottom, in the upper section of the drill string, the temperature in which does not exceed the maximum permissible operating temperature of the measuring device, and the inclination angle of which is not more than (50°-60°). Wherein before installing each subsequent orienting sub, the sensitivity axis direction of the measuring device lowered and installed in the previous orienting sub, is measured. Wherein the azimuth of the sensitivity axis direction of the device is measured if the measurement is made in the vertical or slightly inclined section of the drill string, or an angle between the sensitivity axis of the device and the vertical plane passing through the well axis at the measurement location is measured, if the measurement is made in the inclined section of the drill string with the inclination direction azimuth. After installation the (i+1)-th orienting sub in the drill string, the sensitivity axis direction of the measuring device is measured in it as well, the difference between the results of measurements in the i-th and the (i+1)-th orienting subs is calculated. The action direction of the deflector placed at the well bottom is calculated from the results of measuring the sensitivity axis direction of the measuring device in the n-th orienting sub according to the mathematical expressions given.

EFFECT: providing the deflector orientation at the well bottom according to the results of measurements in the drill string in the places where the operating conditions of the measuring device correspond to its passport values, which ensures high reliability of measurements and calculation of the deflector installation angle and the deflector action direction.
