FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: doppler study of blood flow in the vertebral arteries (VA) with a 2 or 4 MHz finger sensor is performed by subciclinal access in the patient's position on the back. Maximum blood flow velocity (LVS) averaged over time is recorded for each VA in resting condition (V3-0). A test is conducted with nodal head movements back and forth. After testing, both VA are insonated and the LVS is recorded during the second-third cardiac cycles after the end of the test (V3-1). The reactivity index Imid for both VAs is calculated: Imid=(V3-1/V3-0-1)×100%. In case of simultaneous detection of the following complex: Imid value is in the interval [-5%, +5%] and the LVS value for both VAs is less than 10 cm/s, presence of upper-cervical SMS blocking is diagnosed.
EFFECT: determination of upper cervical spine segments blocking, which makes it possible to define the clinical and functional diagnosis.
