FIELD: information technology.

SUBSTANCE: in response to a switch event, a temporary smoothing and/or mixing is implemented at transition between the first temporary portion of information signal before a switch event and the second temporary portion of information signal after a switch event in high-frequency spectrum band. Response is given to switching of one or more of: an audio encoding mode in the full bandwidth to a BWE audio coding mode, and a BWE audio coding mode to an audio encoding mode in the full bandwidth, wherein the high frequency spectrum band overlaps a portion of BWE-extension spectrum of a BWE audio encoding mode and a portion of spectrum of transformation or linear prediction encoding with a portion of audio encoding mode spectrum in the full bandwidth.

EFFECT: increased audio quality when switching between different encoding modes with different bandwidths by smoothing and/or mixing sound at appropriate transition.
