FIELD: computer equipment.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to means for expanding the frequency band of a harmonic audio signal. A harmonic audio signal and a plurality of gain values associated with the frequency band b and a number of adjacent frequency bands for the band b are received through the data transmission circuit. Determining, using an audio decoding converter, whether at least one spectral peak has a reconstructed corresponding frequency band b' in the region of the extended harmonic audio signal band. When the reconstructed frequency band b' comprises a spectral peak: setting, using the audio decoding converter, an amplification value, associated with reconstructed frequency band b' to first value based on received plurality of gain values; in which the first value is the weighted sum of the received plurality of gain values. When the reconstructed frequency band b' does not contain any spectral peak: setting, using the audio decoding converter, an amplification value, associated with reconstructed frequency band b' to second value, wherein second value is less than or equal to first value.

EFFECT: technical result is to improve the efficiency of audio signal processing.
