SUBSTANCE: method and device for visual presentation of preliminary data downloading is proposed, wherein the method includes: obtaining a current progress of a digital media playback operation; presentation of the first icon on the linear operation progress indicator of the digital media player; the definition of a parameter that is used to indicate the speed of preloading of digital media content data; and presenting at least one data point in the linear operation progress indicator portion that has not been lost in order to indicate the data preload speed. According to the method and device for visual presentation of preliminary data downloading, a parameter which is used to indicate the speed of the data preloading is obtained; so the visual presentation of the preliminary data downloading can be realized, so that the user can know the speed of preliminary data downloading, and the user's perception can be effectively improved.
