METHOD FOR MEASURING TEMPERATURE COEFFICIENT OF LINEAR EXPANSION Russian patent published in 2017 - IPC G01N25/16

Abstract RU 2627180 C1

FIELD: measuring equipment.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods for measuring the temperature coefficient of linear expansion (TCLE). According to the claimed method of measuring the temperature coefficient of linear expansion of solids, samples of the reference and test material of the same size are produced. A sample of the reference material and two pusher samples resting at opposite ends of the sample with return mirrors of the interferometre mounted at their free ends are installed in the tube of dilatometre. With the help of a dilatometre oven, the reference sample is heated and then cooled according to a certain program. At the same time, the change in sample temperature is measured with a thermocouple and the total elongation of the "reference sample-pushers" system is continuously recorded. At any given moment of continuous registration, elongation of the pushers is determined by subtracting the calculated elongation of the reference sample from the total elongation of the "reference sample-pushers" system. The reference sample is replaced with the test sample, which is heated and cooled according to the same program as the reference sample. The total elongation of the "test sample - pushers" system is continuously recorded. At any given moment of registration, elongation of the test sample is determined by subtracting the elongation of the pushers preobtained at the same heating or cooling temperature of the reference sample from the total elongation of the "test sample - pushers" system. According to the elongation of the test sample and the value of its heating temperature, the value of the average integral TCLE of the test material is determined. The temperature values and the results of interferogram processing are synchronously recorded in the PC memory. Linear movements of the pushers can be registered using two indicator heads. The total elongation of the sample and pushers is determined as the sum of the readings of the indicator heads.

EFFECT: reduced errors in measuring the temperature coefficient of linear expansion of the test material.
