FIELD: engines and pumps.

SUBSTANCE: cooling system includes a pump (3) of a cooling fluid which is made for circulating the cooling fluid in the cooling system, a cooling device (5) for cooling the cooling fluid and a valve (10) which is adapted to direct the cooling fluid to the cooling device (5) for cooling or to the return pipeline (13) without cooling, the first circuit (6) which comprises channels (6a) of the cooling system for cooling the internal combustion engine (1) and the second circuit (17) for cooling the hydraulic retarder. The first circuit (6) is arranged to direct the cooling fluid from the cooling fluid pump (3) to the first inlet (10c) in the valve (10). The second circuit (17) is configured to direct the cooling fluid to the second inlet (10d) in said valve (10). The valve (10) is adapted to lock the second inlet (10d) under the operating conditions under which the hydraulic retarder is not activated and respectively to circulate the cooling fluid in the second circuit at the same time when it receives the cooling fluid from the first circuit (6) through the first inlet.

EFFECT: invention provides cooling of the internal combustion engine and the hydraulic retarder.
