FIELD: lighting.
SUBSTANCE: controller is configured to derive multiple values from one or more parameters that represent a sound characteristic for sounds (first and second sound) that can originate and be detected at different locations in space. The controller is further configured to use one of the values of the sound parameter (second sound) as a reference value to check whether the value (sound) of the parameter of the other sound (first sound) that is derived from the other location in space deviates from this reference value. Thus, the second sound value provides a measurement of the background sound for comparison with the first sound. Also, the controller is configured to control the lighting at a location where the first sound was detected based on a certain deviation. The lighting provided by the lighting unit is adapted in such a way as to help reduce noise generation.
EFFECT: selective lighting control in space based on sound level measurements in various areas of the space mentioned.
