FIELD: aviation.
SUBSTANCE: method of control of the current status of a solar battery (SB) panel of a spacecraft (SC) includes rotating the SB panel to positions where the working surface of the SB is illuminated by the Sun, measuring the current values from the SB, comparing the determined parameter characterizing the current status of the SB panel, to the set values and monitoring the current status of the SB panel based on the results of the comparison. In addition, the Sun direction vector is measured in the coordinate system associated with the SC, the angle of the SB alignment to its current discrete position is determined, the current values of the incidence angle of solar radiation on the surface of the SB protective coating are determined, the SB is rotated to at least two selected SB discrete positions, the value of the current from the SB is measured. The SB status is assessed by its optical protective coating defined by the current value of its absolute refraction index, as determined by the values of the incidence angle of solar radiation on the surface of the SB protective coating and by values of current.
EFFECT: providing estimation of the current value of the absolute refraction index of the protective coating of the solar battery.
