SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to control the current operating state of an electric arc furnace during its operation in the melting unit, wherein for each of the plurality of the melting furnace components affecting the operating conditions of an electric arc furnace, is recorded at least one measurement value for characterizing its operative state and the measured value is compared with the respectively current limit value admissible for this measured value and on the basis of the comparison result, the maximum input power supplied to the electric arc furnace during the period (Δti) Time if all the current allowable limits is determined. The maximum input power (P) and/or the length of the period (Δti) Time is determined by predicting the time variation of at least one of the measured values.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to increase the productivity of an electric arc furnace.
