SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy. According to the method current consumed by the arc furnace is measured using at least one current measuring device, voltage supplied to the arc furnace is measured, the set value for vertical position of at least one electrode is dynamically determined based on measured current and voltage, at that the factor of electrode movement speed is dynamically determined. Using the control system the drive input signal is determined based on the dynamically determined factor of the electrode movement speed to drive the lifting device for the vertical position setting of at least one electrode such, that it will correspond to the dynamically determined set position.
EFFECT: improved control accuracy.
