SUBSTANCE: method for vehicle operation implemented by an electronic controller comprises the steps of vehicle engine automatic shutdown prohibition in response to traffic conditions and automatical engine shutdown in response to operating conditions. Traffic conditions are obtained from the vehicle's on-board camera. The on-board camera provides data representing the form of a non-disabling road sign, and automatic engine shutdown is prohibited in response to the said form.
EFFECT: increased comfort of driving a vehicle.
