FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: for carrying out the method, aqueous solutions containing heavy metal ions are contacted at room temperature for 1-20 min with modified polymeric sorbents with a solution/sorbent module equal to 50-200. Wastes from the felt-wool production, for example woollen fibre, are used as a polymeric sorbent. To modify the sorbents, they are pretreated in an aqueous solution of Mora salt with the concentration of 1.5-2.5 wt % of the sorbent at 20°C and pH 5-5.5, with a modulus of 25-50 for 1.5-2 hours, thoroughly washed with acidified water until the presence of ferrous ions in the washing waters, then they are treated with stirring at 60-80°C and module 25-50 for 15-45 minutes with a modifying solution. To produce a modifying solution in 100 ml of water, 1-3 g of acrylamide, 1.25-3.75 g of sodium hydroxide, and 1.25-3.75 g of hydroxylamine hydrochloric acid are dissolved and heated at the temperature of 90-95°C for 30-60 min, then 0.1-0.5 g/l of 30% of H2O2, kept with stirring for 1-3 minutes, then washed, wrung out and dried to the moisture content of 8-14%.

EFFECT: increasing the extraction of heavy metal ions while reducing the sorbent modification temperature.
