SUBSTANCE: method comprises the steps of: obtaining a sequence of video frames; determining the area of interest on one of the video frames; determining the images of objects in the area of interest and carrying out their classification; defining the classes of objects; processing all identified images of objects in the area of interest; creating a topology of the identified images of objects in the area of interest, and the topology includes elements that characterize the structure of the object and the features of such elements, representing spatial colour features that are colour clusters; creating a feature set for each of the images of objects according to the created topology and storing them in the data store; setting the search criterion; searching for objects in the video stream based on the characteristics obtained from the search criterion; conducting a comparison of the search object with the characteristics of the images of objects detected in the video stream; determining a frame and/or a set of frames containing the images of objects corresponding to the search subject, or reporting that the search has not yielded results.

EFFECT: increasing the accuracy of determining the desired object in the video stream.
