FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: person under test is presented with a point object and a mark on a monitor screen. The point object moves along a straight horizontal line, travelling the path from the beginning to the end of the line in 1 second. At the moment of estimated positional conjunction of the moving point object with the mark, the person under test presses the "Stop" button, at the moment of pressing the "Stop" button, the position of the point object is fixed and a mismatch error of the point object and mark, delay error value with positive sign, or advance error value with negative sign are calculated. The person under test performs the first series of the "Stop" button pressings at the moment of estimated position coincidence of the point object with the mark, repeating the described procedure a predetermined number of times. The mark is in the center of the horizontal line. At the moment of pressing the "Stop" button, the motion of the point object continues without stopping, the persond under test performs a predetermined number of series separated by a break of a predetermined duration, when the point object moves first from left to right, then from right to left. According to the results of the series, a variational series of mismatch errors of the point object and the mark when the point object moves from left to right and from right to left, the variational range of the series is calculated by the formula: R=Xmax-Xmin, where Xmax and Xmin are the largest and the smallest members of the variational series, respectively. Comparison of the variational range values of the mismatch error value series of the point object and the mark when the point object moves from left to right and from right to left allows to judge the presence and magnitude of the asymmetry of the visual perception of the point objects moving in the opposite direction. The accuracy of the reaction on the point objects moving in the opposite direction is judged by the smaller value of the variation range of the point object and mark mismatch errors.
EFFECT: method allows to determine the presence and magnitude of the asymmetry of the visual perception and the accuracy of the reaction in the opposite motion of the point objects.
