FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: subject is presented a mark in the video monitor screen center and vertical lines spaced from each other at a given distance moving from the left to the right at a set speed. While observing lines movement, the subject at the moment of the supposed coincidence of lines position with the mark presses the "Stop" button to fix the moving line position. Lines movement continues without stop. At the moment of "Stop" button pressing, the error of moving line and mark positions misalignment - delay or anticipation error is calculated. The procedure is repeated a predetermined number of times. The examinee performs a predetermined number of runs from a specified number of moving lines stops in the mark position area with a predetermined break. At the end of the runs, the arithmetic mean and the standard deviation of misalignment errors of left-to-right lines and mark positions are calculated. Then the procedure is carried out in the same way as the lines move from right to left. Comparison of the arithmetic mean errors of moving lines and mark positions misalignment when moving from left to right and from right to left allows to judge the presence and magnitude of the asymmetry of the visual perception of lines moving in the opposite direction. Comparison of the root-mean-square deviations of errors of moving lines and mark positions misalignment when moving from left to right and from right to left allows to judge the accuracy of reaction on moving lines in the opposite direction of movement.
EFFECT: method provides determination of presence and magnitude of visual perception asymmetry, accuracy of reaction in the opposite direction of lines movement.
