SUBSTANCE: device includes a receiver (203) receiving a multi-channel signal containing two channels for playback by the first speaker (101) in the first position and the second speaker (103) in the second position, respectively. The first signal generator (207) generates a correlated signal and the second signal generator (209) generates an uncorrelated signal from the multi-channel signal. The signals contain respectively correlated and uncorrelated signal components for the channels. The receiver (201) receives the microphone signal from the microphone (107). The first correlation means (213) determines the first correlation signal from the correlation of the microphone signal and the correlated signal, and the second correlation means (215) determines the second correlation signal from the correlation of the microphone signal and the uncorrelated signal. The position estimator (219) estimates the position of the microphone from the first and the second correlation signals.
EFFECT: increasing the accuracy of determining the microphone position.
