FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: surgical stapler comprises the first jaw, the second jaw, a tissue thickness compensator, and at least one connecting protrusion on the first or the second jaw for removable mechanical attachment of the corresponding portion of the tissue thickness compensator. The first jaw supports a number of surgical staples that respond to application of a trigger action to them. The second jaw is movably attached to the first jaw so that the portion of the second jaw moves to the position opposite the first jaw after closing action application to the second jaw. The tissue thickness compensator is configured to be captured within the surgical staples and to provide different heights in the compressed state within the various surgical staples after applying a trigger action to them. The tissue thickness compensator contains a compressible body enclosed in a film. At least one coupling protrusion is configured to detachably retract and hold the other suitable coupling protrusion on the film. In the second embodiment, the surgical stapler includes a staple cartridge comprising a cartridge body, a plurality of staples, an abutment, a tissue thickness compensator and at least one region of the coupling protrusions on the staple-forming surface of the abutment in order to detach the tissue thickness compensator therefrom. The cartridge body forms the panel surface with a plurality of staple cavities in the panel surface. The pluraliry of staples is located inside the staple cavities. The abutment includes a staple-forming surface and is movably attached to the staple cartridge in order to move the staple-forming surface to a position opposite the surface of the cartridge body panel in response to closing actions applicatin thereto. In the third embodiment, the surgical stapler includes a staple cartridge comprising the said cartridge body, a plurality of staples, an abutment, a tissue thickness compensator and at least one region of the coupling protrusions on the panel surface in order to detach the tissue thickness compensator therefrom. In the fourth embodiment, the surgical stapler comprises a tissue thickness compensator configured to be captured within the surgical staples and provide different heights in the compressed state within the various surgical staples after trigger action application to the surgical staples. At that, the tissue thickness compensator is configured to provide a retention force of suction between the tissue thickness compensator and the first or second jaw. The surgical stapler cartridge of the third embodiment comprises a cartridge body, a plurality of staples, and at least one region of coupling protrusions on the panel surface for detachable fastening of the tissue thickness compensator thereon. The cartridge body forms the panel surface and includes a plurality of staple cavities in the panel surface. The pluraliry of staples is located inside the staple cavities.

EFFECT: provided compensation for different tissue thicknesses, clamped in different staples.
