The system (202) associated with the household appliance (204) comprises an acoustic sensor (209, 210, 302) associated with the household appliance (204) for receiving an acoustic signal generated by the household appliance (204) during its operation for receiving a sound medium associated with the user based on the operation of the household appliance by the user and generation of the associated output signal; an output element (205, 206, 304, 306, 308, 604) configured to generate an output in the medium (101, 312) associated with the household appliance (204), and a controller (212, 500, 506) connected to the acoustic sensor and the output element. The controller (106) is configured to receive the associated output signal and to control the output element (205, 206, 304, 306, 308, 604) to provide an output based on the associated output signal and to identify the user from the audio medium. The sound medium is a sound of the household appliance, when operated by the user.
