FIELD: measuring equipment.

SUBSTANCE: device comprises an inlet hole adapted to receive a portion of the fluid medium flowing through the pipeline; a valve connected to the inlet; a pump connected to the valve; a reservoir connected to the valve; and a gas chromatograph connected to the valve. A composite sample is two or more separate samples of the fluid medium. Each of the separate samples is chosen after a predetermined period of time after selection of at least one other separate sample and has a selected volume. The time interval is based on the time elapsed between the selection of separate samples or on the volume of the fluid medium flowing through the pipeline. The first separate sample of the fluid medium is withdrawn to the reservoir from the pipeline, which has a first predetermined volume. After a first period of time after the first sample, a second separate sample of the fluid medium is withdrawn to the reservoir from the pipeline, which has a second selected volume. A composite sample is formed in the reservoir, while the reservoir is connected to the pipeline.

EFFECT: efficient and accurate assessment of the generalized properties of a large fluid medium flow, and the preservation of a composite sample for subsequent analysis or the possibility of real-time analysis of single samples to obtain information about the fluid medium flowing through the pipeline.
