SUBSTANCE: method comprises the steps of: storing a plurality of base files in the local memory of computer system; storing the specified copies in the remote server; storing in the local memory a plurality of preview files obtained from the corresponding base files, the size of each preview file is smaller than the size of the corresponding base file; if the local memory is insufficient to perform the record operation, selecting the first of the plurality of base files whose copies are stored by the remote server and delete it from the local memory; completing the record operation in memory; in response to receiving the first user interface command, requesting the first base file representing the preview file; and in response to receiving the second user interface command, requesting a full-sized file corresponding to the first base file: selecting a second base file from the plurality of base files, deleting the second base file from the local memory, and obtaining a copy of the previously deleted base file from the remote server.
